
A red-plate-worthy favorite for years!
Ingredients
- Flank steak (about 1.5 pounds)
- 2 Tbls vegetable oil
- 2 Tbls onion
- 2 Tbls lemon juice
- 2 Tbls brown sugar
- 1-2 cloves garlic
- 1/3 (ish) cup soy sauce
- 1 tsp ginger (powdered) or more like 1 Tbls fresh grated ginger
- salt & pepper
Equipment
- Small mixing bowl
- Shallow baking dish or bowl with lid
- Broiling pan or grill
- Small sauce pan (optional)
Instruction
- Mix together everything but the meat in small bowl.
- Place meat in shallow dish and pour mixture over meat to coat as much as possible. Cover with lid and place in refrigerator.
- Allow to marinate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Set oven to broil and preheat 5 minutes.
- Remove meat from marinade and place on broiling pan. Broil for about 6 minutes on one side. Flip and broil for another 5 minutes or until meat thermometer says you're safe.
- Cover meat with a foil tent and allow meat to "rest" for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Slice thinly against the grain.
- If desired, boil the remaining marinade for one minute and serve as sauce.
