Beer Brats (slow cooker)

The Recipe

Ingredients

  • 38 oz. raw brats (two 19 oz packages)
  • 1 large white onion sliced (half-ring shape; not too small)
  • 10 cloves peeled garlic
  • 1/4 cup butter (cut into chunks)
  • 12 oz. tasty beer (like Spotted Cow)
  • Buns (and butter)


other Equipment

  • Slow Cooker (at least 4 quart size)
  • Oven or toaster oven for buns

Step 3

  1. Spray the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Arrange HALF the onion slices in a layer and arrange the brats on top in 2 layers.
  3. Add the rest of the onion, garlic, pepper, and butter pieces. Pour beer over everything into the slow cooker.  
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours - without lifting the lid during cooking time.  
  5. Enjoy the smell. Consider taking pity on your neighbors and invite them to join you.
  6. Serve brats on BUTTERED & TOASTED buns. You are not a barbarian.
